Community Guidelines
LearnStack is a place to learn with other people. Ask questions, share what you are building, offer useful feedback, and help others improve. These Community Guidelines are our code of conduct for keeping those conversations welcoming, safe, and worthwhile.
Agreement and scope
By creating an account or using a LearnStack community feature, you agree to follow these Community Guidelines and the Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not post or participate in community features.
These Guidelines apply to The Hangout, public and private messages, posts, replies, article comments, profile content, shared files or images, reactions, and any other interaction between LearnStack users. They also apply when your conduct outside LearnStack creates a credible safety risk for this community.
How we treat one another
1. Be respectful. Treat people with basic decency. Disagree with ideas without attacking, mocking, insulting, or intimidating the person sharing them. Consider tone and context before posting.
2. Help people learn. Beginners belong here. Answer questions patiently, explain your reasoning, and make room for people with different backgrounds and experience levels. If you cannot respond constructively, move on.
3. Give useful feedback. Critique the work, identify the problem, and suggest a next step when you can. Do not turn corrections into public embarrassment, pile-ons, or competitions over who knows more.
4. Share honestly. Post work you have the right to share and credit sources clearly. Do not plagiarize, impersonate another person, fabricate credentials, or present unverified claims as established facts. When AI materially helped create what you share, saying so gives others useful context. Independently verify factual claims before asking others to rely on them.
5. Disclose your interests. If you recommend a product, service, employer, course, or opportunity with which you have a personal, professional, or financial connection, disclose that connection clearly. Do not use LearnStack for deceptive endorsements, affiliate spam, recruiting schemes, or undisclosed paid promotion.
6. Keep participation relevant. Use the appropriate room or thread, avoid duplicate posts, and do not flood or derail conversations. Sharing your own project is welcome when it contributes to the discussion. Repeated advertising, cold pitches, engagement farming, and unsolicited promotional messages are not.
7. Respect privacy and boundaries. Do not reveal another person's private or identifying information, share private conversations or images without permission, or try to identify a user who has chosen a pseudonym. Respect requests to stop contacting someone and never evade a block by using another account or channel.
8. Use direct messages responsibly. Direct messages are for consensual one-to-one conversation, not harassment, pressure, spam, or evading public moderation. LearnStack staff cannot browse ordinary direct messages. If either participant reports a conversation, the complete conversation as it existed at report time is copied into an immutable snapshot for admins and moderators to review, as described in the Terms of Service.
Conduct we do not allow
The following conduct is prohibited across LearnStack:
- Harassment, bullying, stalking, threats, intimidation, or targeted personal attacks
- Hateful, discriminatory, or dehumanizing content directed at a person or group based on identity or personal characteristics
- Unwanted sexual attention, sexual exploitation, or graphic sexual or violent content
- Doxxing, impersonation, or sharing private communications without permission
- Fraud, scams, phishing, malware, or attempts to compromise another person's account, device, or data
- Instructions, encouragement, or credible threats intended to facilitate violence, self-harm, abuse, or other unlawful harm
- Plagiarized, pirated, or otherwise infringing material
- Spam, flooding, coordinated manipulation, or undisclosed commercial promotion
- Knowingly or recklessly spreading materially false information that could harm others
- Evading a block, suspension, content restriction, or moderation action
- False or abusive reports intended to silence, retaliate against, or harass another user
This list is not exhaustive. Conduct that defeats the purpose or safety of the community may still violate these Guidelines even if it is not listed word for word.
Reporting concerns
Use the report action when a post, reply, message, or conversation appears to violate these Guidelines. Include enough context for a fair review. Do not retaliate against a reporter, organize a pile-on, or repeatedly confront the person you reported.
Reports are reviewed by authorized admins and moderators. A direct-message report discloses the immutable conversation snapshot described above; the reporting flow repeats that notice before submission. LearnStack may preserve relevant content and records when reasonably necessary for safety, enforcement, legal obligations, or dispute handling.
For an immediate threat or emergency, contact local emergency services. The LearnStack reporting system is not an emergency service.
Enforcement
Admins and moderators may move, hide, lock, or remove content; limit posting or messaging; suspend access to community features; or suspend or terminate an account. We consider context, severity, impact, prior behavior, and whether the conduct appears intentional.
Minor first-time issues may receive a reminder or content removal. Serious or repeated violations may result in immediate restriction or termination without a warning. Credible threats, suspected unlawful conduct, or urgent safety issues may be reported to appropriate authorities where necessary or required by law. Moderation actions are recorded for accountability.
Appeals
If you believe a moderation decision was mistaken, email support@learnstackos.com within 14 days. Identify the decision and briefly explain why it should be reconsidered. When practical, someone who was not responsible for the original decision will review the appeal. One appeal is allowed per decision.
Your content
You retain ownership of content you post. The license needed for LearnStack to host, display, secure, and moderate that content is described in the Terms of Service. Deleted content may leave a content-free marker so a conversation remains understandable. Content preserved in a report or moderation record may be retained as described in the Terms.
Changes to these Guidelines
We may update these Guidelines as LearnStack's features and community change. Material changes will be announced on the service and will state when they take effect. By continuing to use community features after the effective date, you agree to the updated Guidelines.
Be curious, be generous, and help make LearnStack a place where people learn well together.
